Principal's welcome Our vision is to continue “...to deliver a high quality, individualised program to allow students to reach their personal best and embrace our school motto- ‘See me as I am’”. Skene Street Specialist School is a Government, dual mode specialist school in the Victorian town of Stawell 2.5 hours from Melbourne at the foothills of the Grampians National Park (Gariwerd). The school sits on the traditional lands of the Djab Warrang and Jadawadjali people. Education is provided for students with a diagnosed intellectual disability between the ages of 5–18 years living in Stawell, Ararat and local districts. The school's approved curriculum framework is differentiated to meet student needs. We implement appropriate sections of the Victorian Curriculum Foundation–Year 10, including Towards Foundation Levels A to D. Our specialist programs for 2024 include Work Futures, Community Access, Physical Education, Art, Digital Technology, Swimming, RDA and Physiotherapy. Staff/pupil ratios are a priority and we support the students with as much staff assistance as possible. Our teaching staff, educational support staff and allied health practitioners work together in a cohesive multi-disciplinary team. We also liaise with external allied health professionals to further enhance staff knowledge of individual student needs. Our staffing profile for 2024 are myself acting Principal, 7 teachers, 14 class based Educational Support staff, 4 bus staff, Mental Health Practitioner, consultant Physiotherapist, Business Manager and Office Administrator.
